StepNest stores most of your data — step counts, daily totals, goals, settings, and any optional weight you enter — locally on your device. Cloud data exists only if you use the optional social features (global races, friend rooms, leaderboards).
To remove all locally stored data, do either of the following on your phone:
Settings → Apps → StepNest → Storage → Clear data to wipe the app’s
local data while keeping it installed. If you used the social features, a small amount of data may be stored in our cloud backend (Google Firebase): an anonymous or Google-linked account ID, your chosen display name and optional profile photo, and aggregated step totals for the current race periods. To delete this:
The in-app deletion (and an email request) removes, from our backend, your account record and the data linked to your account ID: your display name and profile photo, your synced daily and weekly step totals, your friend code and friend connections, and your entries in races, leaderboards, and friend rooms. Your sign-in account itself is also deleted. We do not collect your location (none is gathered) or your raw sensor data, and we never upload your weight. Aggregated, non-identifying analytics and crash reports that cannot be tied back to you may be retained.
We process deletion requests within 30 days. Backups may take additional time to cycle out, after which the data is permanently removed.
